Driving Lesson and Intensive Course FAQs

The questions learners ask us most.

How quickly can I pass with an intensive course?
Intensive courses are booked as a block of hours over a short period, often one to three weeks depending on the hours you take and your availability. How fast you get to test standard depends on your starting point and how much practice you have had, so we recommend a course length after we have spoken about your experience.
Do I need a provisional licence before I start?
Yes. You need a valid UK provisional driving licence before your first lesson, and you must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres with glasses or lenses if you wear them.
How many hours will I need?
It depends on your experience. Complete beginners usually need a longer course, while learners who have driven before or are retesting often only need a short block of focused preparation. Message us with where you are up to and we will suggest a realistic number of hours.
Should I learn in a manual or an automatic?
A manual licence lets you drive both manual and automatic cars. An automatic licence covers automatic cars only, but most learners need fewer hours to reach test standard, so the total cost can be lower. If you find clutch control stressful, automatic is usually the better choice.
Do you pick up from home, work or college?
Yes. We pick up and drop off anywhere in the areas we cover across north Manchester and Salford, including home, work and college addresses.
Can I use your car for my driving test?
Yes. Test day car hire is available for learners who have trained with us, subject to availability and to your instructor being happy that you are at test standard.
How do I pay for lessons or a course?
Hourly lessons are paid as you go and blocks are paid up front. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm current payment options and secure your dates.
What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?
Give your instructor as much notice as you can. Lessons cancelled at short notice may still be charged because the slot is held for you, so let us know early and we will move you rather than lose the time.
